Sony PS5 Pro Price in India 2026: Latest Price, Specs and Features

Sony's India buy page mentions the Pro in its description but lists only the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition as products you can choose. The page says to buy a PS5, PS5 Digital Edition or PS5 Pro from an online retailer, but its console cards cover only the standard and Digital models. Imported units are the only way to get one. Gaming Nation's 13 July 2026 check put grey imports at roughly ₹80,000 to ₹1.2 lakh with no Sony India warranty. playstationgamingnation

The Pro suits buyers with a good 4K TV who want the best PlayStation picture. Most other buyers will be better served by a standard PS5.

Labels:

  • Official: Sony's India page (no price).
  • Retailer/third-party: Smartprix tracked a ₹1,09,999 listing, marked out of stock, whose price last changed on 1 July 2026. The Week reported grey units between ₹80,000 and ₹85,000 in early June. smartprixtheweek
  • Editorial analysis: the spread is wide because these are informal imports with no fixed MRP.

Prices vary because each seller sets their own margin, stock is irregular, and warranty cover differs. One tracked Flipkart import listing swung from ₹76,999 to ₹1,19,990 within a year. gamingnation

Rumoured prices are not facts. A single leak pointed to an August launch at ₹85,999. No such launch has appeared on Sony's page. gamingnation

Is Sony PS5 Pro Officially Available in India?

No, not as far as I can verify. Sony hasn't announced a launch date or price.

What's happened so far:

  • The PS5 Pro (model CFI-7121) appeared on the BIS database on 9 March 2026, but Sony hadn't confirmed release plans. outlookindia
  • Gaming Nation attributes the delay to the Pro's Wi-Fi 7 needing the 6GHz band, which India opened in January 2026. It's a plausible explanation, but not one I found confirmed by Sony. gamingnation
  • Sony India's page now names the Pro in its description. That is a hint, not a launch. playstation

BIS certification signals intent, not a date. Articles from spring 2026 predicting a May or June launch have already been proved wrong. If a page tells you "the official price is ₹X" and doesn't link to Sony or an authorised retailer listing, treat it with suspicion.

How to buy today: through grey-import sellers or marketplace third parties. Sony India's warranty covers only purchases from authorised dealers with a warranty card and invoice, so an imported Pro has no Sony India warranty. Seller warranties are typically 3 to 12 months and replacement-only, per the same source. Record an unboxing video and test every port immediately. gamingnation

PS5 Pro Features Explained

PSSR

PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) is Sony's AI upscaler. The game renders at a lower internal resolution, then a trained model reconstructs a sharper, more stable image. That differs from brute-force native resolution, which asks the GPU to draw every pixel. Upscaling frees GPU time, which can go to frame rate or effects. It's per-game, and it's Pro-only.

Advanced Ray Tracing

Ray tracing simulates how light bounces for more realistic reflections, shadows and lighting. Sony says the Pro delivers 2–3x the ray-tracing performance of the original PS5. That's a manufacturer claim, and the gain depends on the game. insider-gaming

Higher Frame Rates

Resolution, frame rate and visual effects compete for the same GPU budget. Sony says the Pro renders up to 45% faster than the original PS5. The Pro can spend that headroom on a smoother frame rate, sharper image or richer effects. What it spends it on varies by game, so don't assume any title hits a specific FPS. insider-gaming

2TB SSD

Modern AAA installs are large, so the Pro's 2TB SSD (versus 1TB on the Slim) means fewer deletions. The M.2 slot allows further expansion. hwbusters

Wi-Fi and Connectivity

Wi-Fi 7 helps only with a compatible router. Most Indian homes don't have one yet, so Ethernet remains the safe option.

What's New With PS5 Pro in 2026?

PSSR upgrade. Sony and AMD's Project Amethyst produced an upgraded PSSR, introduced with Resident Evil Requiem, with around 50 existing PSSR games eligible for a system-level toggle. Sony's March 2026 system update brought broader support, citing better image stability, clearer fine detail and more consistent performance. Eleven more games were named, including Silent Hill 2 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with Assassin's Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 to follow via patches. The new PSSR is rolling out to PS5 Pro, starting with Resident Evil Requiem +2

Global price rise. Effective 2 April 2026, Sony raised the US Pro price to $899.99. That sets the benchmark for any future Indian price. playstation

Disc-only ending. Sony India's page says that from January 2028, newly released PlayStation games will be digital-only; earlier discs keep working. playstation

Editorial view: the 2026 Pro is better than the launch-era one because software has caught up. The upgrade is real but incremental, and it applies only to supported titles.

In plain English: both play the same games. The Pro runs supported ones with sharper images, smoother performance or better lighting. The CPU is the same class as the base console, so games limited by simulation rather than graphics gain little. Gaming Nation also notes there are no Pro-exclusive games. gamingnation

PS5 Pro vs PS5 Slim

The Slim is the standard PS5 Indians can buy officially today. It uses the same GPU class as the original.

  • Performance: the Pro is ahead, most noticeably on 4K displays.
  • Price: Gaming Nation lists official Slim prices at ₹49,990 (Digital) and ₹54,990 (Disc) as of July. That gap to the Pro is ₹30,000 or more. Verify on Sony India before buying, since memory-cost pressure has driven price rises elsewhere. gamingnation
  • Storage: 2TB vs 1TB (Digital: 825GB).
  • Size: the Pro is about 100g lighter but taller than the Slim. hwbusters
  • Disc drive: the Slim Disc has one built in; the Pro needs an add-on.
  • Value: the Slim wins on cost per hour of gameplay.

Who should choose PS5 Slim?

Budget-first buyers, 1080p or 60Hz 4K TV owners, anyone who wants a full Sony warranty, and first-time PlayStation buyers.

Who should choose PS5 Pro?

People with a 4K display who care about image quality, existing PS5 owners who want a visible upgrade, and buyers who dislike deleting games.

Do You Need a 4K 120Hz TV for PS5 Pro?

No, but the Pro is wasted without a decent 4K TV.

  • 4K: the biggest factor. PSSR targets high-resolution output.
  • 120Hz: only helps in games with 120Hz modes. It's nice, not mandatory.
  • HDMI 2.1: needed for 4K at 120Hz. Check which TV port supports it.
  • VRR: smooths frame-rate dips. Worth having.
  • HDR: improves contrast and colour, and benefits every console.

On a 1080p screen you'll see little benefit. Upgrade the display first.

Is PS5 Pro Worth Buying in 2026?

It depends on your TV, your budget and your tolerance for risk. A grey import adds a warranty risk on top of a high price.

Buy PS5 Pro if:

  • You have, or are buying, a good 4K TV
  • You care about ray tracing and sharp images
  • You want supported PSSR enhancements
  • You want 2TB of storage
  • You accept grey-market warranty limits

Consider PS5/PS5 Slim if:

  • Budget matters most
  • You already own a standard PS5
  • You use a 1080p display
  • You mainly want access to PlayStation games
  • You want full Sony India warranty cover

PS5 Pro Price in India vs USA, UK and Australia

MarketCurrent priceApprox. INRNotes
IndiaNo official price; grey ₹80k–₹1.2L—Informal imports, no Sony warranty
USA$899.99≈₹85,000–86,000Before sales tax; Gaming Nation put it at about ₹85,900
UK£789.99Not convertedIncludes VAT
AustraliaA$1,399.95Not convertedIncludes GST New Price Changes for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player +2

I haven't converted UK and Australian prices because I didn't check a live exchange rate. Don't compare these blindly. Taxes, warranty, import duty and retailer margins all differ. Gaming Nation estimates shipped consoles attract roughly 42–44% effective duty, and baggage-rate imports pay 38.5% above the ₹50,000 allowance. A declared import therefore tends to land near grey-market prices anyway. gamingnation

PS5 Pro Games and Enhanced Games

"PS5 Pro Enhanced" means a game has been updated to use the Pro's hardware. Sony's page says these features are available only on select games and vary by title. Enhancements can mean higher resolution, better frame rate, improved ray tracing or PSSR. playstation

Examples: Silent Hill 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Crimson Desert are among titles with upgraded PSSR support. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Monster Hunter Wilds have been reported as supported too. notebookcheckonemoregame

Not every PS5 game gets identical improvements. Many get none.

PS5 Pro Disc Drive and Accessories

The Pro has no built-in disc drive. Sony India lists a removable disc drive compatible with PS5 Pro and Digital Edition (CFI-2000/2100) consoles, which plays 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD. It needs an internet connection to pair at setup. No official Indian price exists for it because the Pro isn't sold officially. Grey sellers list it around ₹18,990. playstationgamingnation

Vertical stand: Sony India states the vertical stand is sold separately, and its compatibility note names the CFI-1000 and CFI-2000/2100 groups without naming the Pro. Confirm compatibility before buying. playstation

Who Should Buy the PS5 Pro?

Buy PS5 Pro if you are:

  • A 4K TV owner who notices image quality
  • A PS5 owner who wants a visible upgrade
  • A buyer who accepts grey-market risk, or is willing to wait for an official launch

Stick with PS5/PS5 Slim if you are:

  • On a tight budget
  • Playing on a 1080p screen
  • Unwilling to risk a console with no Sony warranty

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the PS5 Pro price in India in 2026?
Sony hasn't published an official India price. Imported units were reported between ₹80,000 and ₹1.2 lakh in July 2026, with wide variation by seller. These are third-party prices, not Sony's MRP. For reference, the US price is $899.99.

2. Is PS5 Pro officially available in India?
Not that I could verify. Sony India's page mentions the Pro but shows no product card or price. The console appeared on BIS in March 2026, which signals intent, not a launch. Buyers currently rely on grey imports without Sony India warranty.

3. Is PS5 Pro worth buying in 2026?
Yes, if you own a good 4K TV and value image quality, and you accept the import risks. No, if you're budget-focused or on a 1080p display. The Slim plus extra games offers more hours per rupee.

4. What are the PS5 Pro specifications?
It has an 8-core Zen 2 CPU, a 16.7 TFLOPS RDNA 3-based GPU, 16GB GDDR6 plus 2GB DDR5, a 2TB SSD, Wi-Fi 7, and HDMI 2.1 output. It uses PSSR upscaling and has no built-in disc drive.

5. How much storage does PS5 Pro have?
It has a custom 2TB SSD, versus 1TB on the standard Slim Disc and 825GB on the Digital Edition. An M.2 NVMe slot supports additional internal storage, and external storage works over USB.

6. Does PS5 Pro have a disc drive?
No. Sony sells a separate removable disc drive compatible with the Pro, which plays 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD. No official Indian price exists; grey sellers list it around ₹18,990.

7. What is PSSR on PS5 Pro?
PSSR is Sony's AI-based upscaler. Games render at a lower internal resolution and are reconstructed to a sharper image, freeing GPU power. It's Pro-only and per-game. Sony upgraded it in March 2026 for better stability and fine detail.

8. Does PS5 Pro support 4K 120Hz?
Retailer listings state 4K at 120Hz over HDMI 2.1, but only games with 120Hz modes use it. Many titles run at 60fps or below, so you'll need both a capable TV and a supported game.

9. PS5 vs PS5 Pro: which is better?
The Pro is faster, with a stronger GPU, better ray tracing, PSSR and 2TB storage. The PS5 is cheaper, officially sold in India and fully warrantied. "Better" depends on your display and budget.

10. PS5 Slim vs PS5 Pro: which should I buy?
Buy the Slim for value, warranty and a 1080p or basic 4K setup. Buy the Pro for a premium 4K display and image quality, if you accept the higher cost and grey-import risk. The Slim plus extra games suits most buyers.

11. What TV is best for PS5 Pro?
A 4K TV with HDMI 2.1, 120Hz, VRR and HDR gives the fullest benefit. A 4K 60Hz TV still shows the sharper image. A 1080p display wastes most of what you're paying for.

12. Does PS5 Pro improve every PS5 game?
No. Enhancements apply to supported games, and they vary by title. Some get PSSR, a better frame rate or better ray tracing; others look the same as on a standard PS5.
