BJP Leader Challenges Rahul Gandhi Over Bogus Voter Claims

BJP MLA Ram Kadam criticizes Rahul Gandhi for his stance on bogus voters, urging clarity in his opposition to their removal.

BJP Leader Challenges Rahul Gandhi Over Bogus Voter Claims

Ram Kadam, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has publicly criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, for his allegations regarding 'vote chori' during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Kadam contends that instead of perpetuating these claims, Gandhi should openly declare his opposition to the removal of bogus voters.

In remarks to IANS, Kadam stated, "In the future, whenever a list is made of those leaders who keep on lying, Rahul Gandhi's name will be mentioned at the top." He referenced a past Congress rally aimed at eliminating bogus voters in Maharashtra, suggesting that Gandhi's failure to remember this reflects poorly on his credibility. Kadam emphasized that SIR is intended to cleanse electoral rolls and described unfounded accusations as an "attack on democracy."

Kadam also accused Gandhi of undermining the Constitution and its institutions. He urged Gandhi to clarify his stance, saying, "Instead of reiterating 'vote chori' allegations, Rahul Gandhi should clearly say that he doesn’t want the removal of bogus voters."

Additionally, Kadam took aim at senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, questioning whether he was aware of his party's previous efforts to address bogus voting. He noted, "Unfortunately, he belongs to that party, whose leader, Rahul Gandhi, maligns India's name during his foreign visits."

The BJP MLA responded to Chidambaram's recent criticism of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, suggesting that the opposition's attacks on the Election Commission are part of a "planned conspiracy". He asked rhetorically, "Why would our enemies want our country to progress?"

Kadam highlighted the recent praise for India from global leaders, asserting that this reflects the progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, particularly noting a real GDP growth of 7.8 percent. He alleged that foreign adversaries are funding domestic efforts to insult governmental institutions and foster chaos, with Congress and other opposition factions being primary culprits.
