Delhi Police apprehend gang members linked to Lawrence Bishnoi

In a significant operation, the North East Delhi District Special Staff team arrested two alleged criminals connected to the Rashid Cablewala gang following a late-night encounter in Usmanpur Yamuna Khadar. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the incident and were immediately hospitalized for treatment, police reported on Monday.

The Delhi Police acted on actionable intelligence regarding the movement of the suspects. Setting up a strategic trap in Usmanpur Yamuna Khadar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the New Usmanpur police station, the officers awaited the suspected gang members' arrival. When the suspects approached, police signaled for them to stop, but they allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire on the officers first.

In response, the police returned fire, resulting in injuries to the suspects. Subsequently, both were subdued and taken into custody. They have been identified by authorities as Wasim and Kaifi. The police indicated that these individuals were involved in an attempt to extort money from a businessman in the Bhajanpura area on October 2, during which shots were fired into the air to intimidate their victim.

Further investigations revealed that both accused are linked to the Rashid Cablewala gang, known for its operations in Northeast Delhi. Notably, Rashid Cablewala is believed to have affiliations with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to preliminary police findings. This connection raises concerns about the ongoing criminal networks operating within the city.

During the encounter, some bullets fired by the suspects struck the bulletproof vests worn by two police personnel. Fortunately, both officers escaped the confrontation without any injuries.

The police are now focusing their efforts on interrogating Wasim and Kaifi to gather more information about their involvement in criminal activities and to uncover any additional links to other gang members. The investigation aims to dismantle the broader network associated with these gangs.

This arrest comes shortly after the Delhi Police Crime Branch apprehended Ghulam Khwaja, also known as Ale, a member of the Takkar gang, on Friday. Khwaja, a 30-year-old resident of Dabri, had been declared a proclaimed offender. During his interrogation, he shared insights into the gang's operations in areas including Dwarka, Dabri, and Uttam Nagar, plus neighboring regions of Haryana.

The Delhi Police's latest move underscores their ongoing commitment to combat organized crime and maintain public safety in the capital, following a series of violent incidents in recent weeks. Amidst increasing gang-related activities, authorities are reiterating the need for community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.
